Vinegar of the Four Thieves:
Prepare for Colds and Flu

Many legends are told of the the Four Thieves of the Plague. In Medieval times they robbed many dead and dying but never caught the Plague themselves. When they were finally brought before the court, the magistrate let them go free in exchange for the recipe of the Magickal Vinegar they washed in which kept them free of the terrible dis-ease.

Here in Old-Earth we make this Vinegar in September to prepare for cold and flu season.

Apple Cider Vinegar may also be used in old rituals and spells which call for blood or wine.

Here is one recipe for Vinegar of the Four Thieves:
Pour one quart of Apple Cider Vinegar into a sauce pan.
Add: One Tablespoon each of Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Allspice, Ginger, dried Rosemary, Sage

add one Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper and six crushed cloves of Garlic. Bring to a boil stirring counter-clockwise and asking for the blessing of the Healing Mother Goddess. Boil for six minutes, and then leave until cool. Strain and re-pour back into the vinegar bottle. Use as a Ritual Wash, sick room wash, and diluted, as a bath when flu season arrives.

The Magickal Life:
The real Magick on Earth is that Time changes everything.
Those things of the Ethereal Realms are the constants, the never-changing Truths and the Immortal Beings who remain the same, untouched by decay, deception or the ravages of Time for Evermoore.

Autumnal Equinox- A Time to Restore Balance

The Sacred Wheel of the Year is turning. It is time to bring in the full harvest, receive the rewards of your labor and prepare for the darkening of the year.

When the hours of daylight equal the hours of darkness, it is called the Equinox. Equinox means "equal night" and in the Celtic Tradition it is called Mabon or Alban Elved by the Druids- "white elder"- and is used for rituals of harvest, sharing, dividing equally, looking inward and assessing how well we have done through the year.

Astronomically speaking, it is when the Sun seems to rise directly in the East and set directly in the West in the Northern Hemisphere. This occurs twice a year, once in March in the Spring and once in September in the Fall. The Earth orbits the Sun slightly tilted on it's axis and so the Sun appears to travel North and South of the Equator during the year. Equinox, then, gives us equal day and equal night; and signifies a time to restore balance.

Living in harmony with the seasons and cycles of the planet brings a special meaning to your life.
Each part of the year (sun cycle), month (moon cycle), even day and night (earth cycle) is important; and following this code will give power and purpose to your projects ...and your Magick.

The hours of daylight and darkness are equal for only a short time. As we head into the dark time of the year, the winter season of rest and planning, the days of bright Summer sunshine and the flurry of activities that it brings are coming to a close. It is time to re-asses, re-balance and take stock of our lives, how well have we done? Where did we mis-step? Where did we succeed? The time for giving thanks is approaching; it is time to gather in the harvest and see what we have achieved.

The Apple: Harvest of Balance

Apples keep us healthy because of the many minerals and nutrients they provide for us. They are good for our teeth, digestion, skin and brains. Traditions tell us even more. The shape of the apple is the round globe of the world, the universe, the Sacred Circle and contains the powers of the stars.

Apple Ritual: Choose an apple for yourself. Wash it, dry it and as you do, say a greeting to the Mother Goddess.
With a sharp knife, carefully cut the apple in half horizontally; crosswise. Inside you may be blessed to find the Star of the Lady, the symbol of the Mother Goddess, formed by the seeds. If you are so blessed; make a wish, thank the Lady and eat your apple!

Astrological Sign: Libra- the Scales of Balance

The Autumnal Equinox ushers in the Fall season and the Astrological sign of Libra. Libra shows us the way of balance. Librans are heavily endowed with a great sense of what is right and wrong, acceptable and un-acceptable, even knowing what is necessary and ridiculously superfluous to a minute degree.
When in balance themselves, Libras will have balanced check books, sound relationships, healthy bodies from balanced diets and exercise; and accomplish all of it with agility.

But when distressed by something; and that can easily happen, they become defensive and melancholy at the slightest unfair incident. If there is a Libra in your life, help them to stay as even and un-stressed as possible. All will be the happier.

Seasonal Colors: Pinks of September with Browns of October

The Green of the growing season is fading yet the blue of the cold and ice has not yet arrived. Pink os the color of the highest self before Ascension and it is at Mabon that we look at our self, decide what we like and realign our Journey path for the coming year. (Nov 1st is the New Year!)

Brown and golden amber are the colors of books, records, history and research. The browns keep us stable, by reminding us of what has been. We build on others knowledge and remain balanced, faithful and stable because we do not walk away from contracts and agreements previously made just because we have found something which seems more interesting at the moment.

Use Gemstones of Pink Moonstone, Rose Quartz, Tiger Eye, Golden Quartz, and Amber for seasonal work.
